AUD $200,000 was spent on viewing towers, boardwalks, interpretive displays, and picnic areas to accommodate the growing number of tourists. From Perth, this attraction is just a 4.5-hour drive.

Adventurers will appreciate this suspended walkway on the huge granite outcrop of Castle Rock. Here, you have two lookouts with fantastic views of Albany, Mount Gardner, Mount Manypeaks and the Stirling Ranges. To reach the upper lookout, you need to walk through and over the rocks, and climb a 6-metre ladder.

 

Middleton Beach, Albany

The recently revamped Middleton Beach Precinct is a family-friendly destination with a protected bay for swimming, children’s playground, picnic areas and eateries. This is surrounded by spectacular coastline and scenery, including the boardwalk walking & cycling trail that commences from Ellen Cove and winds around the coast to the Port of Albany. The legendary Three Anchors Restaurant is also on the shore of Middleton Beach, right next to Ellen Cove.

The Premier Hotel

This hotel, which is now a bar & restaurant, is a heritage building right in the centre of Albany. The two-storey building was badly damaged by fire in May 2016, after an attempted arson attack. With careful restoration and development, it has regained its former glory as one of Albany’s historical landmarks.
